Telephone Solicitation

I had a telephone interview for an adjunct job last Friday. We had set up a scheduled time, and the interviewers called right on the dot. Very professional — mostly going through my CV and asking specifics about my experience. Also a number of “situation” questions: How would you handle an unruly student? How would you prepare for a course you’ve never taught? Also some application type questions: How would you apply your experience in field ‘X’ to course ‘Y’? Tell us about your teaching philosophy.

Pretty intense, and we went the entire scheduled time. We talked some about the next steps in the process, and I think I gave good answers throughout (none that went: … ahhhh … well) so I’m hopeful that I’ll move on to the next stage. I’m supposed to hear more next week.

Got my reading copy of the diss all prepped and ready to go. I have to take it over to the Grad College folks so they can make sure that my margins, etc. are all spiffy.

Three weeks and a wakeup until I defend!
