Bolt from the Blue

Wow … this came totally out of nowhere.
Got a call from a headhunter today who has a client who is putting together a small analysis team and wanted to know if I was interested in running it. Nice location too.

I really am not looking in that direction, but I figure it can’t hurt to talk — particularly since my dance card looks to be empty after I finish the dissertation. I told the headhunter (quite honestly) that I hadn’t really been thinking about working in industry, and that I wasn’t interested in anything to do with business development or senior management. That said, the idea of running an analytical shop is pretty attractive to me, so I would be willing to consider the right opportunity.

Over to the client now … we’ll see what happens. I thought this was a part of my life that was closed now, but I’m not so sure… what do you think?

  1. Can’t hurt to talk to ’em? You’d likely make lots more money than in academia. Although… those teaching moments are pretty sweet.
